Powerpint Chart

MEASUREMENT            SCORE (1-10)
TRANSITIONS                   10
COLOR                                7
INFORMATION                  9
TOTAL                                26

I rated powerpint this way because it has more description than slide show. I think it's good to show the info needed, but I also think examples can help too. Such as pictures or designs so that 6th grade can remember or memorize the design cycle. Therefore, I chose slide show because I htink it would be more effective.

Slide Show chart

MEASUREMENT         SCORE (1-12)
TRANSITIONS                     10
COLOR                                  8
PICTURES                            12
TOTAL                                  30

I chose slide show because I thnk it's a more simple and fun way to learn the design cycle.
I chose this simplicity because I think that the more simple it is, the better they understand. Therefore, they'll learn the design cycle better in an awesome and fun way. I used google and wikipedia to research about slide shows and power points.

power point

MEASUREMENT            SCORE (1-10)
TRANSITIONS                   10
COLOR                                7
INFORMATION                  9
TOTAL                                26

     1.   I gave transitions a 10 on the pwerpoint chart because a powerpoint has or can have the same thing like in a slide show. Transitions make the power point seem interesting, as well as a slide show, so I rated transitions the same way. In addition, I think that transitions would look better in a slide show because it seems more stylish and cool.
      2.  I rated color with a 7 because a powerpoint has color as well, but not as much as it is with a slide show. It has more information with clolor, but doesn't have slides that have colorful letters and pictures or images like a slide show does. In addition, I think that color is used more in a slide show rather than in a power point. Therefore, I think that a 7 is more adequit for color in a power point like I mentioned before.
     3. Another thing I included in the chart was information; and rated it with a 9 because a powerpint has more info than a slide show would have. Therefore, I think that it would be better to use a slide show to teach the 6th greade the design cycle. By this, I mean that its good to use info, but could be better to demonstrate it to them by using pictures that relate to the design cycle process. This gives me a total of  26 points on the powerpoint chart.

slide show

MEASUREMENT         SCORE (1-12)
TRANSITIONS                     10
COLOR                                  8
PICTURES                            12
TOTAL                                  30

   1.  I gave transitions a 10 because I think that there should be more info as well as pictures to describe the design cycle as well.  I also thout that it will make my presentation more cool and attractive.
2.  I gave color an 8 because to decorate the slides you have to have color added, and it also makes it more attractive. Another reason for rating color this way was because a plain slide show without color isn't an interesting slide show. I thought that it might decorate it to look nicer as well.
 3. Pictures and images are what I'm going to use to teach them about the design cycle and to maintain the info. Pictures help you get an idea of what someone is talking about; on this case I'm talking about the design cycle. Therefore, I gave pictures and images a 12 and  is equal to a total of 30 points which I also stated on the chart.

Assignment 1 Design Folder

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? Explain to a 6th grader what the design cycle is all about by creating a presentation. (3d, PPT, movie, game, Poster)
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world? Engineers &architects can use the design cycle to stay on track to know if something works.
3. How will this project serve my community? This project will help the community to learn or review the Design Cycle.
4. How can my learning help my community? My learning helps my community to stay on topic & do a great job in doing the Design Cycle.
5. How do we live in relation to each other? We live in relation to each other by helping & cooperating on things.
6. How does this help others? This helps others because we can learn how to solve problems & find a solution to something.
7. What are the requirements for this assignment? We should explain the design cycle by creating a presentation w/ details.
8. What is the Design Cycle? The design cycle is a circle that we use to find a problem & solve it by creating a plan, designing it, & evaluate it to make sure if it works.
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it. I'm going to make a slide show w/pictures to help the 6th graders learn the design cycle better and in a much easyer way.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment? I have to create a presentation to help the 6th graders learn the design cycle in a simple way & at the same time, I go thruogh the design cycle.
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment? The limitations of this assignment are to not spend a lot of time on the design part of the design cycle & not use something dificult for the presentation.
13. How will you "test" your presentation? I'll test my presentation by asking a 6th grader what they think about my project and how/what can I change to make it better.
REFLECT ON YOUR LEARNING
PLAN:
14. Brainstorm ideas. Use the chart below
IB Brainstorming Chart .pdf found in schoology under “materials”& then files
15. What idea did you choose to demonstrate the design cycle and why did you choose it?
16. Does your idea meet all of the requirements?
17. Use the story board paper below to plan your presentation.  Include how many levels you will have, what will be on each level, how will you include teaching skills to young students, and what will your questions be about.

18. Explain how you will use your time to get your project finished in 12 days:
